Has anyone else gotten the E-bay Ecotec header?

I am needing some input on these from other owners, as I have an issue I want to discuss and prefer PMs.
Thanks!

well it says right in it thats its "generic" they are also claiming it fits a Z22 and the picture of it... its either not for an eco of the mid section in mounted backwards.

If you want an cheap header I'd try to get a Tsudo of e-bay.

The header I received is not anywhere as bad as I thought it would be.
But...

The flange is lightly warped and I will have to have a machine shop machine it flat.

I also have burrs and flash in the pipes that I don't need to remove, but will via sanding.

The welds actually look good surprisingly enough.

The pipes are not paper thin, I was worried about a very thin guage of metal and I was wrong. The flange is thick and looks chromed, and the pipes are standard (basing this soley on the other header I owned).

I did buy a header for my pos Geo Storm, and it was a Stan's header, the guage of metal seems the same.
But, I cannot vouch that the metallurgy is the same.
I can't remember what the Stan's header was made of.

Overall impressions I had was, this header out of the box needs some machining and sanding, but I expected this for how much they wanted.

I can't compare it, unless I took this header, popped it on, dyno it, remove it and install another brand 4:2:1 header then dyno it.

I bought it because the DC Sports header is $400+. This one, if it breaks, I could buy 3 extra as back up. Shipping was $35, and I know they could have shipped it Ground UPS for $15, but they did not offer it.

I cannot say if this is a good header or not. I set up a day to have the car dropped off at the speed shop when the header arrived, and then I forgot all about the possibility that the flange from all the welding done could be warped. I put the flange on my table and it was obvious to me that it was not flat as I could see that the middle bowed inward a little. So, I called some machine shops and I believe this to take about a half hour and they charge about $80 an hour. So $40 is what I would estimate, I could be wrong.

I did have a question for someone who also has one of these headers though, stuff like did theirs have a warped flange and so on.

If you own one and whether it is installed or not, please PM me.

Thanks!

Thank you for the links, I appreciate it.

I did a search, but not for Tsudo.

I will look into these Tsudo headers as an alernative.

I know others mentioned they bought the same cheap header I bought, but no one to my knowledge has posted results or their input on their impression of it.

The header I have has the company name on the box, but I can't remember what it was right off.
I will post that info later on.

I did do a search on the net when I first got it, and there was no surprise when I could not find that company anywhere.

i love how JDM became a replacement for "performance" in the spocom scene. I actually saw a product on ebay that was made by APC....and the poster referred to it as "JDM".

Toronto, do you have a wife and a kid?

They get most of my money, and it is not so easy to get what you want when your paycheck is divided by 3.

The RK Sports header was the one I wanted, but it is over $400.
Everyone knows how tight money is right now, unless your family owns an oil rig.

lol, that is the definition of irony.

but seriously, an ebay header, you will have fitment issues, and durability issues. If you are willing to put up with those, go for it.

I know what you mean, I have to save forever for my toys......

F*ck Tuningpros. I paid for a short throw from them, and waited a week with no response. So I told them to return my money. and I bought another short throw while I was waiting for my money, and figured I'd come out even once they returned my money. A few hours after I purchased the other short throw, they sent me an email, saying that they had shipped my item, AFTER I told them to return my money.

So I ended up having two shifters.

I was hoping the legends were true and that a header on an Ecotec is getting another 2mpg average as a side bonus.
My last header did no such thing, but each motor is different.

I really shouldn't bother modding this car right now, but I figured for $100, I would let it slip by justifying it with the hope that people aren't lying and my 27mpg (it lowered 1mpg with my CAI) will go up to 29mpg average or at the very least back to its 28mpg average it used to have.

The extra ponies are also a lure.

This is the wife's car, but... I don't want to mess with modifying my car right now because I would start with the exhaust and it will cost me $550 plus install of a GMPP touring exhaust. I just can't spend that kind of money right now.

I just bought a toddler car seat for $160, the wife bought a digital camera for $150, and a gig memory card for $20, so now I am broke.

If it's the wifes car then don't even bother. Those headers always blow their secondary gasket and it's a major PITA to change out, not worth it for an extra 1mpg.

Go with a metal gasket or go no gasket at all. I run no gasket @ all and no exhaust leaks here.

Yeah that's great idea until that flange warps to where you'll have a leak even with a good gasket.

What about welding the secondary after the header is installed?
