But how well did it run? I've seen a car run/drive with a nice hole in the side of the block.

Hell I had a car blow out the oil pan gasket and leak all the oil out. Drove it and it started to seize up. Parked it for the night and filled it with oil the next day. Drove t for about a week till it finally blew a hole in the side of the block. Then I still managed to limp it to the shop to get replaced haha. So running doesn't mean its good still
