Clustery goodness
Tuesday, April 17, 2012 7:21 PM
It's about time I started redoing the interior of the Sunfire. First up is the cluster. Why? It is needed for the rest of the plan.

So... On to the sacrifice.

Thanks to Transporter7220, got a cluster with a dead tach. That's fine. I don't need the gauges anyway. Stripped down the extra bits leaving the essentials.

Gave it a shot of white primer to mark out the new gauges.

And mounted, ready for some fine tuning.

The rest of the cluster puzzle arrived....

Then the indicators. Turn signals, high beams, ebrake, and CEL only. All but the CEL are Harley parts.... Well, technically they are universal....

Next post will be when it all comes together.

00+ cav/fire will swap over, 95-99 fire, , no go....

I'll be swapping to an 03+ sunfire dash, so the cavalier cluster I'm playing with will be going in place of the currently modded 95-99 fire.

awesome. ill never understand why more people dont do this.

for some reason most want to keep stock gauges and will do anything to keep them.

looks great man. not a fan of the sticker carbon but it works.

Brad, bring a CF Freak I thought for sure you'd be able to spot real carbon in a photograph! Look at the way it takes on the light - clearly not a fake sticker (as Kardain pointed out).

I'm disappointed! The CF gods want you to return all your weave and go back to stock now.

The people have spoken, here is the latest pic

l-r: water temp, tach, speedo, fuel.... Intelitronix brand, red led

This is sans indicators, also the center gauges aren't tightened down.... Have to check to see if the indicators I bought will work before adding them in.... Damn wonky gm wiring

Will this work for now? In the car will be a bit. Have to go cross state for the dash parts.

As for emissions, I only have to have a CEL. But I don't live in an emissions controlled county anyway, so...

looks nice, do they have dimmer option for night driving?
Re: Clustery goodness

Yups. There is a second power wire which goes to anything that gets power when the park lights are on. This triggers the dimming feature.
