HPTuners and Superchips were both bought by MSD.
HP will be only software from now on, Superchips will handle the hardware, and MSD will provide the tech support.
This is good because it will free up time at HP to develop the promised product, instead of spending time answering phone questions.
Version 2.0, which was promised to support the 4cyls, will be on sale very shortly, if not already out.
But there is no 4cyl support. Keith told me that the 1st one supported will probably be Cobalt SS in maybe a month, with others to follow as demand presents itself.
Right now though they are really focusing on the new GM V8s (LS2).
This place is just stringing us along by our short hairs......... they've been saying the same thing since the beginning of this...... Now their going to skip over us, and start on the Cobalt SS...... thats the biggest BS I've seen. How many Cobalt SS's are out there? How many are owned by people that are even modding them?
The market for the J-bodies is here, as shown by this post, posts on their web site, all the boosted and modified J's out there....... Why are they blind to us? I can not find the words to express how pissed off I am about this crap.
Couldn't have said it better myself.

It really rips me up inside.. then you get limited support from the aftermarket, but as I said before, it could be a ton worse.. We have options, its just we have to work a little harder for success.. and in the end we turn heads and surprise the crap out of the disbelievers.. sometimes I think thats what really drives many of us to prove what we can do with what we have.. I guess my point is even though some companies might not give us mutual respect of those that bring in more money, and you can't really blame them, there is always another option and we should keep that in mind..

I agree...
It's the same theory as pissing off the guy who is taking your order at McDonalds...you don't want little suprises when you get the product.
Seriously guys, there is no need to bump this topic, when there is news of an update, I'm sure they will post. Bumping this will just continue the "are we there yet" curiousity of the JBO members and cause pointless discussion. Either you wait or don't want and move onto another way to fix your problem or tuner needs.
That's all I really have to say...

First off your wrong. There is plenty need to bump this topic. It is a topic that people want info on. So bump it to get it. This is a message forum for info. We have been waiting a very long time on this. We were past up when the GTO's came out, now yet again. They came on here and asked for our help (VIN numbers etc...) we did that. They infact said they were suiprised at how much response they got. I understand business part of things, but truely once they write out programing the Cobalt's will be a little easier, The computer systems are similar. If they are not going to support us at all, then tell us. Don't have us waiting not never do anything.

Yeah you're right...it would be nice if they did tell us that they aren't supporting us at the moment but if they don't, they don't. Like I said before, none of us should have been super excited, this isn't an overnight project and it wasn't a garauntee that they would do it. I knew that from the beginning and I wish some people here would understand that as well. There are tons of companies out there that don't support us...why get pissed cause another one is putting us on the back burner?
The reason I was saying not to bump this topic is because if there was truely some BIG progression in their research, we would have heard about it already. This has been bumped over and over...we are on page 10 now and have little information in between to what is going.
Instead of us pissing and moaning about a company not supporting us on a forum, you should go and find another way to fix whatever problem you are having with your computer because believe it or not, there is a way to change whatever you want, it's just the hard way. I think some of us are looking for the easy way out. Yeah, we don't have companies like Hondata to make plug and play everything but you can still change timing and change fuel consumption in different ways.
The ONLY thing that this programmer would benefit me is changing shift points...that's about it.

I think most of us realize this is not a overnight thing. This has been going on for a very long time. Why get pissed, mad, or upset?? We have put time into this as well. We have helped them (some people) with info they have needed, giving them VIN numbers, how many teeth are on the VSS sensor etc.. This is not like someone saying I think I know someone who might be able to help us and them not being able to. They have been on here and on there forum asking for info.
Next this only helping your shift points?? If you plan to go turbo this will allow you to tune your stock ECU as a standalone. This will allow you to do alot.

Ok, I understand you guys have "helped" but it was never a garauntee from the beginning.
The only problem that I'm having is some of the people here are bitching, complaining and waiting on a problem that might never be made. If you need to do tuning THAT badly, look elsewhere instead of procrastinating your plans.
About the shift points, I said that would be the only thing to benefit ME. I already purchased a standalone fuel system...Megasquirt, for my turbo setup.

I'm not procrastimg my plans. My turbo car is currently down, so it does not matter. Now my N/A car I feel good gain nice power with the HP tuners software. A standalone is not worth it for that car.
I'm with the people who are complaining. It might not have ever been said they will make this for sure, but they did make it seem it would be.
I also feel this software would allow J's and other GM small cars to move up on the chain in the performance world. That whole respect thing that was mentioned. I don;t think you would see so many blown motors on boost or juice.
-JaysonZ24- wrote:im just mad cause i feel like im being pulled along on a string. IF its shift points your after NJHK, just buy a shifttronic. Just plugs into the transmission port and gives you push button shifting. Cost about 500 bucks though. That is one of the reason i was wating for this program as well.
I just really wish HP tuners would come here and say no weve decided not to make the software. I really dont want them to come here and say something like its been put on hold till the cobalt is done.

as a matter of fact all we "really" need is a way to get the binary reliably off the pcm, unencrypted, modified, re-encrypted, then reliably written back to it..

if this could be done (which it could but i and others do have day jobs) then tuner shops could alter stock tables and such to get the same functionality.
