Okay I had my RKsport ram air fiberglass hood painted from silver to black. Got he hood from a guy on the org. It was originally silver and looked great but when I had it painted black I could see the outline of the under frame in certain light. Is that right? Not that there is much I can do about it...I mean, I can live with it but it is far from perfect. Is this a common problem with glass hoods or did I get a crappy hood.
wait what? like if you look at it at an angle you can see the under hood frame???? sounds to me who ever painted it sanded right through the top of the hood. or if you mean you can see the silver under the black and serton spots just means they didn't wet sand it enough to be smooth and the metallics in the paint didn't lay correctly
The hood is made up of two components the hood panel and the frame structure as you know. Where the frame meets the hood panel there seems to be an impression...almost like the hood shrunk and pulled in along the framing causing the top side of the panel to have an outline of the framing underneath.
ooohhh ok i get it lol sorry. thats odd i never heard of anything like that. Only thing i can think of is to fill it and sand it flush but like you said it doesn't bother you. might be that they joined the 2 parts before the top was cured and it pulled it in some
