Very nice man, can't wait to see it fully finished and the new paint

Lets just say I am tired of welding
Then before I left I threw a layer of fiber tech on so I can sand it tomorrow.
Ztwatyfo - I didn't I skipped the first lever since the more I looked at it and messed with it the more I didn't think it was necessary.

gotcha. is there any way we can talk you into loosing the key hole?
f-ing nice work. i love pioneering ideas
Thank you
I didn't take any pictures before I left but I have everything ready for primer and started working on the second side plus I finished relocating the gas cap and shaving the gas cap handle.
Here's a couple pictures from what I worked on today.
and a side view
P.S. it looks rough in those pictures but it is 100% done and ready for primer I just forgot to take the pics

Of course I do. It was the first thing I did.... There is no point in these if they didn't work.........

Wow dude, this is awsome.
You need to chrome them or paint them silver like on the G35.
GREAT work so far.

Heat Fence is your friend
If you've never tried it, you should give it a try, not expensive and it makes a HUGE difference when trying to shave things on thin metal.
Btw, it all looks awesome.

Well DUH!
vid is on the.... second page?
why keep the key hole though?
i know its for ease of opening, but with all the work you are doing, why not just install an alarm or something to auto unlock the doors?
that being said GOOD JOB
that looks great and I am excited to seee how it looks after paint and everything
Seth, I haven't heard of a heat fence before. I'll have to ask the welding instructor if he has one. Or I just might have to put it on the tool list for next school year.
Thanks for the heads up. And thank you for the comment
Jackson, I have an alarm with door locks already however I still like the assurance of not having to pull out the unlock kit to unlock it if for some reason it decided to fail.
gtpsunfire, I'm going to paint them to match the body color

Heat fence is actually a "consumable" per say, not a tool.
You can get it in a tub or in like a caulking tube. It's a heat barrier "goop" that works really good. I put some down, about 3 inches wide, 1/4" to 1/2" thick on a piece of steel and took an oxy-acetylene torch and heated up one side of the metal to red hot. Just on the other side of the heat fence with a laser thermometer was about 125-150 degrees. I practiced shaving spoiler holes on an old trunk I had and with the heat fence I used no filler metal, just a mig, and it didn't war at all.
It's worth tryin out. The best part too is that it's reusable. Idk how well i'd trust it from project to project but like when I did those spoiler holes I just put down what i needed for one hole, welded it, then moved the goop to the other holes.

Oh hmm. I'll have to pick some up then. Sounds like it will help for future projects. The "fence" part of it just made it sound like it might be an actual tool rather then a product. Thank you for the heads up
