2002 Chevrolet Cavalier

About This Vehicle:

I bought this car because it was the cheapest thing I could find, and it would let me save for a sports car. But now that it's modded a bit and I'm racing it, I've found that I really like it, and I think I'll keep it for a while, until one of my other projects are complete.

Body Style: Sedan
Color: Sandrift
Engine: 2.2L I4 OHV
Transmission: Manual
Interior: Beige
Purchase Date: Sept 2003
Purchased From: Bennett Chev-Olds

MODIFICATIONS

Engine:
  • K&N Filter. That is all. This car's about handling baby!
  • Oh wait - I added polyurethane engine and tranny mounts too.
Suspension/Wheels/Brakes:
  • Bilstein Coilovers
  • RKSport Tubular A-Arms
  • Eibach ERS Helper springs (to keep the springs seated over bumps)
  • Mantapart camber / caster plates
  • Stainless steel braided brake lines
  • All bushings are polyurethane or steel
  • 18mm stock front sway bar (it came with none)
  • 26mm rear sway bar
  • Slotted and cross-drilled rotors
  • 195/75/14 Mastercraft WinterTraks on Steelies w/ stock hubcaps (Winter)
  • 205/55/16 Toyo Proxes T1-R (Street and Rain)
  • 205/50/15 Kumho Ecsta V710 R-comps on Kosei K1 15x7 rims (for AutoX - these are undersized for extra drop and shorter gearing on the track)
  • 225/45/15 Kumho Ecsta V700 (these are for lapping - they stand up to the higher temps better)
Interior:
  • Recaro seats (w/brown covers for stealth)
  • Pedals set up for heel-and-toe
  • Back seat was deep-sixed.
Exterior:
  • Finally fixed the off-course body damage.
Audio:
  • Finally put a little stereo in. Got it for cheap!
  • Sony Explode deck (7 colours - wheee!)
  • Cervin Vega 3-way 6x9's
  • 6" Boston Accoustic mids (with my sexy custom MDF adapters to fit these in the doors)
  • 1" Boston Accoustic tweets
  • MTX something or other 5 ch. amp
  • 12" sealed Kicker something or other sub
  • Quick disconnects for the amp and sub to enable racing.
Miscellaneous:
  • Thule bike rack on the roof. Yes - even while racing.
Future:
  • Frame /strut bracing (some of this will need to be custom because of the camber plates - I've got a crapload of 1" tube now so here we go)
  • Roll cage?
  • Working on a custom braking setup to get rid of the useless ABS
  • 3" Lapbelt (have it now
  • just have to put it in)
  • Trunk locate battery
  • Ecotec - to be installed this winter
  • Turbo - if I can still fit into my same class
