got tired of wasting my time, effort, money, blood, sweat and tears into something that aint gonna do anything for me in return. allthough it has had the oppurtunity a couple of times but never come through (it did inspire me to get a new tattoo on my back though.....seeing is believing from side to side about 5 inches big) anyways, just flat out didnt want it anymore plus i need to get the hell out of my parents house which i would never do if i still had it. it was definetly a sad day cleaning out the garage thsi weekend but those are the last memories. prasise the lord that its gone and i hope the new owner has as much fun with it as i did.

I 've had my cavalier since 1997 with 1 mile on it. Yep I have put all 58,xxx miles on it and I dont plan on getting rid of the z24 ever. Simply cause I have put money into it and its worth more to me than the $3,000 I could get for it. Its a car that I love and have driven since my High School days. I have fun memories and I need the car to get around! I plan on keeping it until the doors fall off and I simply cant drive it anymore. It helps me save money so I can really get the car of my dreams!

Gotta love the J-Body!

im keeping mine forever and ever. i love it. it may not be perfect but its mine. before this i had a p.o.s. pickup truck that was rusty and spray painted. this car looked like a vette compared to the beater. i bought mine with 9 miles on it in nov 03 and it now has 53000 on the clock. no problems other than maitenence and i have ran the hell outta her. im either gonna have to total it or be buried with it.

I'm on the edge of selling mine too!! The car is good and it treated me good with no problem at all, and I mean no problem. But for the reason of being very embarraced riding someone through the rail tracks and the 3 speed auto just won't suit me. For the 3 speed, some may tell me to get a 5 speed, but if I'm to get a different car, definately not another GM. I want something pleasure like a Camry.

I just picked the wrong car for my first car, but it did gave me a lot of memories for it being through 3 turbo kit designs. Most of my high school memories were not football and dances, but modding my J.

If I can get money soon, I might consider to just gave it to my lil bro since the does is mechanically perfect now except a check engine light from the o2 sensors when I took out the exhaust and went back to stock.

It's always the guys that do every cheesy mod possible and beat their cars into the ground showing off for their buddies that complain about what a pos their car is and they'd never buy another one, or from that company? I will say the majority of cars built these days are as reliable as anything else, given their design purpose that is. Some are more of a pain in the butt to work on than others. And resale is going to worse with modifications unless you can find some kid to buy it, because all us older guys know all about modified cars and beating the crap out of them from when we were 18.

ofcourse, I only had my 97 cavy Z24 for only one year so I can't really say much. But the car did prove itself. It was on several 3k mile trips and drove like it was just out of the factory, flawless. I never had any problem with it that I didn't cause and I'm thinking of keeping it as long as I possibly can. Even if I have to get a second car to help me out, I love my cavy. I guess some people are just unlucky. I have nothing against GM or any of their productions.

My car is for sale now because i basically lost interest. Its hard to explain but it doesn't give me that same feeling when i drive it or work on it. I drive it and it just feels loose and not like it used to feel. J's are entry level and basically transportation. I dont think they handle being modified because they aren't made with high quality parts. I like my sunfire but im moving on to a 350z

I just bought another one

first one treated me well, and now im just waiting on GM to finally put the eco s/c in production!

I contemplate selling my car everyday lol.. I want to mod it up but don't really feel like throwing away my cash to never see it again .. I can see myself selling mine within the next year and buying something more luxury/quality, most likely a beemer... interior = sex.

I could have sworn I responded to this thread.

Anyways,

I bought a 05 silverado quad cab in March got totally spoiled. Took my car to 3 shows, Import war, Modified Madness, and Ocean City. Ocean City in June, I was totally fed up with my car for long trips, didn't feel like completing the motor and hated driving it due to how spoiled I was with the truck.

Came back from OC put it up on Auto Trader, and it sold in 2 weeks. As soon as I had money in hand I went over and paid in full for my ZX-12R and still had some money in my pocket. Cavalier just wasn't cutting it anymore for fun, even after I dropped 4 grand in it over last winter to get it ready.

Now 2 wheels @ 200 mph with a derestrictor, is much more fun, has a hell of a rush, and is so much easier to transport long distances.

See, that's what i'm afraid of. I frickin love this car to death, it just fits me, i've been through alot in this car and had so much planned for it, but I can't keep shelling out money for it over and over again. I was thinking of keeping it in storage but then I wouldn't have a down payment for my new car.

It's so confusing for me, and I know it's gonna hurt when I have to sell it, i'm too attached to it. But I don't want to regret it for the rest of my life.

If your looking to sell it, I may have a good home for it. Where do you live? I'm in SC and am debating between a 94 LT-1 Z/28 Camaro and a 96 4cyl Cavalier. if you do sell it, how much are you looking to get? -Josh

I sold mine but I felt sort of empty when I did just a lil. It was a good car NEVER once left me stranded, always reliable. But I needed something with a lil more kick.

I plan on keeping mine and maybe getting a 95' 2 door Sunfire with front end damage and modifying the the front end to fit a Northstar V8 out of a 90's caddy. It's gonna be a hell of an modification but I'm going to try it. Call it impossible but I hope it works.

im kinda new here..and really just got my sunfire so i can play with.. before that i built a 85 cutlass supreme with a nice 350 engine... but due to gas price a jump on this sunfire.. the body is nice.. and kinda wondered why would some one get rid of a nice car.. now after drive it I realize there was work to be done to it.. Right now i had the car since august and been just doning regular work to it... but it really has proven to me that i picked the right car.. most people would get mad a say she is eatin a hole in my pocket.. but u just see what is wrong with it.. And that what is holding u back from beatin your friend in his honda, toyota, nissan.. or what ever u go up against.. I see as a challange on what can i do to this car so i can put down an ass wippin on the other guy.. always look at the bright side.. and if u think hey i dont need it anymore than u dont need to justify yourself to anyone.. do what makes you happy... but the day your driving down that street and get into a race with a j-body.. And you and your new or used honda, toyota, nissan get spanked by that j-body.. then you will think back and say damn why did i sell it for... cause youll never know, that could have been your old car kickin your rear as payback for sellin it...

i only got the sunflower cuz it was cheap to buy , fix and gas... sunfires look much betterthan a cav to me, but still are the same cheap car in and out. theres no value with these cars, gm stands for cheap. and you only getwhat you pay for. so when you get their cheapest car... dont expect a luxurious ride and look. i like my car, prolly wont trade in ever, never get anything for it. i will keep it till i get something better, and still hold onto it for daily running around, winter weather or something that i wont wanna use a nicer car for. the car is reliable and everything is ok for me. i hadda redo half the electrical system but oh well. over all its a good car, and i got what i planed on getting from it.i knew it wasnt a high class ride, so i didnt expect it. its what i need in life right now, and suits me fine. but it will grow old and ill be able to move on. i wont say dontget a GM, but ide jsut say that you only get what you pay for, lower prices- lower quality. and also if you dont maintain the car and keep it nice , it wont stay nice or run well.

After debating the sell do not sell fence for a while I came to a realization.

My 03 sunfire with 51000 miles on it has given me the following troubles
-New washer fluid pump. ($100.00 repair)
-fog light wiring replaced x2 (covered by warranty)
-headlight wiring replaced (covered by warranty)
-rotors uneven (ground once then replaced by powerslots)
-wiper blades ($10.00, cheapos are just as good as the expensive ones)

-new door panels(my own stupid mistake, $130.00 shipped from e-bay)

so in total maintanence I've paid $110.00 not including upgrades in parts that the care actually needed to functions.

I've $2K into her so far (audio and suspension)
planning on another $1K before autocross season next year.

The car has never once let me down, hasn't died, and gets great gas mileage. So no matter what I get in the future I'll have the fire till I run it into the ground,

For me theres nothing hotter than a daily driver with full suspension, some bolt on power ,and 17's.

I couldn't be happier, and I truly don't know what car I want next

Current list of to drive cars before decision:
Subaru STI
Subaru Legacy GT
RX-8 (this weekend )
Mini Cooper S
Scion TC (the fast one)
Acura TSX, and RSX
Saturn Sky
Pontiac Solstice
Mazda Mx-5 (this weekend )
Mazda 3, and 6 (maybe this weekend)
New Rx-7(when it comes out)
New Honda Civic Si

Project Cars (for rally conversion:
Mazda 323 GTX
95 Impreza 2.5RS

So by the time I get thru that list my cars mine should be paid off and I hope I'll have a house to store more than my and my wifes cars.

The list is always growing.

I tried neons, and a few other cars when I was searching for my sunfire, and the sunfires road feel as compared to the other options in the price sold me one it. Now with the additiaonal suspension I've done to it my car is a blast to drive and it's only gonna get better.

Sold my 2002 LS Sport today. Should be picked up by this Sunday.

Why did I sell it? Simple, the money is more important to me. Did I need to have another Cavalier? Nope, but It was great for gas . . . now I am back to driving my truck whenever I drive which is not that big of a deal since I dont drive anywhere that offten anyway.

Will I ever get another J? Maybe never know.....

But yes, I did sell my J Car.

Still have my sunfire tho.
