Good set of winter tires and your good to go. I delivered pizza with my car for 2 winters. First winter i had brand new winter tires. Never got stuck or came close to losing it. Second winter my tires were a lil less then half worn and my car sliped and slid a lil more but no big deal. Just before winter ended i got my summer tires and man those REALLY suck in snow. I also found that i can control my car more without the abs.
i have to take of my front bumper to drive thru snow unless i feel like plowing NJ roads for free

You know every year, when the weather is good, I think about keeping my Cav on the road through the winter. Its more dependable and more reliable and far faster and more stylish than my winter beater. But every winter..
When Salt, Rocks, and other road debris from the winter shower my car
When more than half my car is caked in salt and I don't have time to wash it
When another driver slides and taps my bumper and it doesn't bother me
When there is so much snow I can take a shovel to it and not worry about scratching the paint
When the slush and snow from boots and clothes soaks my rugs and seats
When hot chocolate accidentally spills on my seats
When I hit the curb so I know how close I am to it
When I move a shopping cart thats in my way with out getting out of the car
When I take a turn to fast hit a snow bank back out and take the turn again, but faster
Then I am very thankful and happy that I have a beater and that my Cav is safe and secure
and not raking up mileage
It doesnt snow in Alabama
, but rock chips do suck

I had the Avenger front on my green cavalier and it saw 3 winters with no problem. I was scared to death but it was my daily driver, so I did it. I slid a little sometimes but that was because I needed new tires. Remember, I live in West Virginia (in the mountains) and have to travel to Virginia (also in the mountains) to work everyday except the weekends.
The bumper was fine because it's urethane. The only problem I had was when I got behind a salt truck.
I big rock of salt hit my front bumper and chip a huge flake of my paint off.
This car wasn't supposed to be driven in winter, we planned on getting another 4 wheel drive but can't find one that we can afford that suits us. So now I wished I would've kept my stock Z front cause I don't want to drive w/this blitz fiberglass front, but it looks like it's going to happen anyways.
Cavs and sunfires handle great in the snow, though....you'll be OK if you get some good snow tires on there.

why would you get reamed for driving it in the snow?
my car is my only car, and i drive it in ice(which is worse than snow)...because MD winters are normally mostly ice with a bit of snow for looks. if you want to make sure the paint survives, make sure you wax it just before winter, and wash/wax it during the sparse precipitation-free warmer days throughout the season.

My car doesn't have a kit or lowered or anything so I have no problem in the snow. That's why they make front-wheel drive cars, to get through snow. Before I had this I drove a rear-wheel drive car all year round for about 12 years, so I got used to it. I'm putting snow tires on my Sunfire for the first time this winter, just because I have some in my basement from my other car that got stolen. I live south of Lake Erie so we get some lake-effect storms here, I hate those!
i have before.....but the car hasnt seen a winter in two years

i've seen some previous posts where some people, who can obviously afford to mod a lot and have a second car, seem to freak out about this kind of stuff.
mods come once every great while... man i wish i wasn't so cheap..

um
it's your car. who are they to say what you can or cannot do with your car? don't even give them an opening to harass you...be offensive, not defensive.

wow, I thought more of you guys would park 'em for the winter, I sure do. I feel bad even driving my daily driver (05 kia) in the bad weather, the front end is so chipped up already! but when it's February, 5 degrees outside, i can peek in my garage and see my perfectly detailed Sunfire waiting for spring :-)

my cavi, my daily driver, is all i've got! its seen one winter so far in RI, which aren't that pleasant. it breaks my heart to see all that salt and sand thrown on it in my university's parking lot but i don't have a choice..its my only car. i try to wash it as often as possible (my garage is occupied so i have to wash it outside). and she handled just fine last winter..minor sliding but nothing severe.
Blown.
what's snow

When I lived in Ohio, I drove my 93 sunbird in the winter. It was the only car I had. But I gave it a hot oil treatment every year. It drips oil for about a month but I keeps the doors rusting out.
Now I live in Arizona. The only thing I realy have to wory about now with my 04 cavi is getting sand blasted and stone chips.
dont want to but it looks like i have to again

Mine gets driven in the snow when ever I feel like it, but last winter it only saw snow about 10 times. It needed to do reverse donuts

i drive it year round....
i dont change wheels, i run 17;s year round as well... alloys come stock on many cars that run year round, as long as my wheels are quality, its not gonna matter...
granted i have a choice of 2 other cars, not really a point as long as you drive safely with what you have...
