A secret weapon huh? I am also working on somthing faster than my truck, it's my cavy and I now have posession of a ported and polished head with stainless steel valves and heavy duty valve springs! It also came with the intake and exhaust manifolds so all I have to find now is the injectors, rail, pressure regulator, wiring harness, valve cover, and the water outlet from the head.
Hey...for all going to Test'n'Tune....what time are you guys gonna be there?

Another question....where are we going to meet and who's running their cars. I won't be able to since my kids are going to be with me, but I will be there to meet & greet with everyone.

I'll see you all there whoever is going.

We can meet in the pits by the tech trailer. That's the closest I can think of without haveing to confuse anyone with directions Obviosly I'll be running my truck; I need to source some parts for my cavy's head swap! (You know, converting the head of a 94-97 2.2 to a head from a 98-02 2200!)
Hey...I didn't see any of you guys at SIR last night, but oh well. I was with the crew of a yellow dragster there. Not a whole lot of impressive driving though. A lot of slow starters and most of them weren't taking advantage of their own car's power. Pathetic I'd say. Are there any people planning to go to the next one? I might give it a go then. See if I can come anywhere close to running like that SRT4 that was there
309-263-5900, there's the number for high rev. i don't know what they have for prices for brakes. i got my rotors at auto zone, military discount hehe. granted they're not slotted or anything. as for friday, i don't know, depends how i feel at that moment, and if i'm still working 12 hour shifts, i just now got home from work, lol. oh, watch out for biker cops on speedway during the day, they're hitting it hard, i got 2 tickets on saterday at the same time, so be careful.
Hey guys, I've been goofing around for the past few days. I did make it to the track Friday night, but it was a bust! I ran slower and the worst part of it, I don't know what went wrong! Oh well, I guess it wasn't my night.
Ian--- I think I saw your car! you were the only yellow sunny that was in the parking lot that I noticed, so it had to be you!
John-- You could get cross drilled and slotted rotors from the JCWhitney catalog. jcwhitney.com is the site. I got my front rotors from them, they were $130. The same brand is available for the j's at 52.95 per side. Those are the drilled and slotted rotors. Then supposedly the next step up are the diamond cut rotors, but they are 130 for the pair. But yea, if you need to do your brakes asap, I can lend you my caliper tool!
Ok thanks Rey,
'
Im gonna take a look at thoose rotors from JCW....see if I can get thoose before the weekend...130 for diamond is not bad!

anyone know how much OEM pads cost....I want NO noise....which from what i remember means you have to go GM OEM....

and ...one more for thoose who have the expierience!, how is the rotor on...screws?
like a Honda..or is it just pressured applied..like I have to use a rubber hammer just to knock it off?

just wanna know...only have ever worked on Honda Brakes!
i know...it sux...but you gotta start somwhere!

no screws holding the rotor on- but you dont want to go with oem pads if you are going to get any kind of slotted or crossdrilled rotor--the rotor will just eat up the oem pads. highrevmotorsports has a special brake pad to run with the slotted and crossdrilled that runs about 60 bucks, and they are good pads havent had any problem yet.

Re: Tucson J's III

I think it's the other way around with oem pads and rotors. OEM rotors (GM that is) are chewed up faster than after market rotors because the after-market pads (depending on what you get) are more aggressive in there material compound!
I would have thought I had just gone through my first set of pads on my new cross-drilled and slotted rotors in these first six months, (and for all the hard stopping I do) the pads are practically still new (minus 5-10% original pad lining)
J-car rotors are just hats,. No hubs or studs and yes, they are like the Honda setup that you worked on! (Front drive that is) Just let me know when you need the tool!

What's "UP" Nick? You need to hang with us this weekend! My friend at work has a cousin that just purchased a 1998 Nissan Skyline! No typo's here man, that's the word from the horses mouth! Supposedly he's going to be there at my work to have it tested! Don't get me wrong! My friend told me it has the in line 6 turbo, but it's only 2wheel drive. Yes, that makes it a GT-S not a GT-R!

you can get pads at auto zone for like 30 bucks i think it was. the rotors they have are 15 bucks per rotor, or 25 bucks per, depending what brand you go with. they only have 2 brands, aimco, the more expenisive one, and the cheaper is their own brand.
