I has local guy now. A good friend and a member of my paintball team. He is great with wood and fiberglass. Once I have him make 1 set, as well as my custom boxes for the MR2, I will see about getting both on the market. Not that you guys care about the MR2 @!#$ lol.

yeah, Don(the original guy I had going on these who might still, but I might call him off since hooking up with the local), is a very very busy guy, and having someone local for my wood work will be nice anyway.

Ive actually checked around at the audio shops around town. They all wanna cut my door up to fit the speaker in. Oh and they want something like $80 to do it. So yeah, Im fine with waiting for these whenever they get made

Re: Speaker Adapters

haha why are they thinking they need to cut everything up?

I had one guy tell me that he had been doing audio systems for 15 years and it is impossible to make a 6.5inch speaker fit in a 4x6 hole without cutting the door up. He said there were no adapters available and none can be made. I even mentioned the plastic ones from eBay. Nope they don't exist.

I'm sorry but I don't want my car hacked up, just in case I ever sell it. Frickin morons.

hahaha nope they don't exist.. But rest assured, he must be right because he SAYS he's been doing this stuff for 15 years. I don't know what he's had experience doing for 15 years, but it's not fitting speakers.

I refuse to let this get pushed down

apparently he's been doing it wrong for 15 years. or just sending people away when a simple piece of wood could solve the problem. hell i made 4x6 to 6.5" adapters in my grand am without cutting a single piece of the door and i used all existing bolt holes to do it lol.

We have a huge paintball tournament this weekend that we've been prepping for (he's on my team), so nothing. Were getting together after the weekend to talk audio projects. Custom mr2 enclosures, a couple types of speaker baffles, etc.

I'd be interested in a set of adapters as well... I replaced my speakers last fall.. (already 6.5's) but I found that the adapters the PO put in were two different styles and falling apart already.

Well like I said, I'm out of town for a big paintball tournament right now and he's on my team as well. After this weekend, him and I are getting together on car audio fabrication projects.

At least it looks like there is some interest beyond myself.

That there is, I was planning on replacing mine with other plastic ones, but I just saw this thread so I figured why not go the better route while the option is there. It also gives me a reason to tear my doors apart again and see what the hell is rattling... Even though my doors have dynamat on them I still get an annoying buzz from the back side of the door pannel.
