I got a 95' cav z22 sport. My mouldings are faded and just plain done. But i just wanna make sure that they come off the same way AND there isnt some weird fasteners or anything. And that there is actually paint under there ;p I was looking for replacements but if tehy are just taped i think that would be awesome. This is my first post if you cant tell . So as long as its the same im good! I'll wait for an answer before commencing. And also, this goo gone stuff will get this weird white stuff i got on my hood right? and how bout old wax that may be under the mouldings? thanks alot.

Me and PhilioZ24 did both sides of my car in about 15/20 minutes. It was nothing.

We just pulled the side molding off and then rolled the glue off with our fingers.

I wouldnt suggest using the goo gone.. it just made the glue all slippery and I couldnt get it off that way.

I think I was harder taking my emblems off then it was taking off my side moldings.
on another note, i did my mouldings and badges last saturday. a pressure washer will help a LITTLE bit with the adhesive left over, but i found a GODSEND when a tech here at work brought me a drill with a rubber disc on it that felt like an eraser.

it was an "adhesive removal disc" made by 3M. it took the adhesive off like butter! it was awesome. then just a little decal remover with a terry cloth, and the residue came off. entire job was done in less than an hour (including buffing).

thought this might be helpful. that disc WILL NOT damage the paint in any way.

If you have a black car, or even not... take off the molding and then leave it in the hot summer sun for 30 minutes, it comes off a lot easier
When i removed my right rear side moulding, the paint underneath was bubbled. what do i do and does anyone have an estimate on what it will cost to fix? what does it have to undergo to be fixed?? It only did it on the one side in about a 2 1/2 inch strip of about 8 bubbles. I have a 2000 colorado green couple cavalier if that is of any importance. thanks for all help given.

one day my dad brought up a very good point to me he said "them moldings may look like @!#$ to you, but would you rather have that, or some dipshit tap his door into it and leave dents" i agree with him, i mean the moldigns dont look THAT bad, i took the red stripe out of the middle, which matches better. besides, im going for the sleeper effect anyways....
Would it be worth it on my car?

I know, the pic is small. I left an email with Cardomain about why I cannot do thumbnails anymore. No response yet. I emailed them weeks ago, too!!
Well...apparentlly it won't matter if I remove my side moldings or not. I was hanging out with some friends and one of them opened the door of a Blaze and put two small chips and a dime sized dent on the car. So now that I realized they won't help unless someone in a car hit you, they are coming off this week.

Still working on the pin stripping, but I have like 3/4 of it off. That last 1/4 is being a pain in the arse. I'll be glad to get it done and be able to move on to another project.
Where can you get that 3M Adhesive Removal Disc from? I tried Sears, Wal-Mart, and Home Depot but had no luck.
Had the same issues when I removed the moulding on my cav (sore thumbs, lots of Goo-Gone). I actually let the Goo-Gone soak into the foam tape and it seemed to come off easier.

As for dings, my car is lowered 1.5" and most of the dings I have are on the rear quarter panels ABOVE the moulding, so the moulding was pretty much useless...

I hope to have pics on my Cardomain page soon, but I like the clean look better.

Just did this to my car today and it looks a lot better! I used all my fingers so the pain is spread evenly to them all and they all hurt still but its worth it. The hardest part is getting the old adhesive off its on there so good.

To get the moldings off I just put the fishing line in a little bit then pulled the moulding out enough to get my fingers in then I pulled the moulding right off and all that was left was the darn tape on the paint.. lol
i finished mine today, and gawd dammit my thumbs are gone. it took me 2 days, and i seriously have like 5 or 6 holes in my thumbs and pointer fingers. this sux, but the car looks awesome without mouldings. i dont know what year your guys cars are, but that 2003 3m tape did not want to come off. hurts to type. must soak fingers. grrr.
