Went for a fun ride today :)
Friday, August 04, 2006 6:07 PM
So I got stuck working on a Porsche Cayenne (sp?) the guy was complaining about a vibration and pulling to the left. The guy actually had 2 of his trucks in, VW Toureg twin turbo V10 TDI which someone else got and I get the porsche. It was a 4.5 liter twin turbo with full exhaust intake a we just did the GIAC chip. So I took the thing for a ride, cruisin was nice, comfy ride, same as the Toureg except the controls are overly complicated (I'm used to the toureg so it might just be me) the left hand key holes bother me, not used to that. So anyways I'm cruising and deciede alright lets see what it will do. Stock is 450 hp and 457 ft/lbs of tq..... with the GIAC chip its a 55 hp and 65 ft/lb gain with the base chip, this thing was tuned alittle past that with a bit more boost then the base chip, plus factor in the intake and full exhaust...... So I'm cruising about 40 and get into a little bit, not enough to make it downshift but enough to build a bit of boost and I'm thinking wow this thing feels preaty light on its feets, not as unresponsive and slugish as most SUV's. So as luck would have it I caught the red light and I was the first car inline, perfect. So oposite light turns yellow, no oncomin cars sitting in the turn lane or anythign so there was not gonna be an turn arrows, so I started to brake torque it up a bit and wait, light turns green coast is clear and I let it rip....... HOLY @!#$!!!! I was expecting it to have some balls but nothing like that, it freaked me out how fast is it was, it caught me so off gaurd that a big ass heavy boat could rip out of the hole like that, @!#$ thing almost ripped my head off hahahahahah. I stayed full in it till about 60 and it just pulled and pulled and pulled, never let up, power never droped off. It was bad ass. I never ever would have expected that kinda power from a big ass expensive luxury truck. I don't know how the top end is but I wouldn't suprise meat all if it was pulling 12's, it @!#$ moved. Being a decent sized V8 it had low end to begin with then having a V8 push a couple of turbos they spool real quick and its boost off the line.

So yeah I don't knwo what the point of this thread is, figured my adventure was worth posting.

I think they look sweet.

I heard that it was suppose to be more of an off road vehicle but they couldn't find decent tires that were an off road type speed rated over 140mph.

The turbo S's with the big brakes and dual out dual tipped exhaust's........

Yup, that's a nut buster!

A modifyed Black one with 20in black 3-pc racing rims, lowered 2.5" thanks to custom eibach suspension, upgraded BOV's, bigger exhaust, Custom 3 or 4" intakes, and whatever else is done to it.......

Well I basically I HATE my neighbor! Got it for a deal after selling his s/c'ed Zo6 and finding the cayenne on Dupont Registry's site from a former porsche sponsored road racer. Sick.....

20" and racing should never be used together to describe a wheel.

haha thats my rant for today

^^^ I gave the short version, he was complaining about hesistion and lack of power intermitantanly, the only way to get it to do that is by trying, I left that out since we didn't find any problems, the vibration and pull we did fix with a road force balance and alignment, he also wanted the service now light reset since the place that did the oil change forgot, as well as checking the oil level (it was 1/2 qt low) there was a cracked trim piece he wanted replaced and a burnt out tail light bulb......

I'm not just taking random cars out and beating on them for no reason

OHHHH, those were the best cars to come in, aren't they? I remember this one guy who had an S2K with a c/o VTEC not engaging. We told him he had to wait for the engine to get to operating temp before getting on it cause VTEC won't kick in til then. He came back 3 times. Even went on beat runs with him. He was worse then me! Best r/o I have ever gotten by far! Ahh, but I digress.

I always wondered what those things were like. All I know about them is from that commercial where the guy has his phone by the tail pipe and he tells his friend to wait while he runs in the car and revs the motor. I thought that was a pretty funny commercial.

true dat. Though, I think the only reason that Porsche builds the Turbo S is because they're embarrased that Chrysler can put out a faster SUV for about half price (see SRT8 Grand Cherokee).

I head a clip on the porsche website ... and man oh MAN!!! They definatly do not sound anything like a suv. It almost kinda sounds like a muscle car! If somebody wants to hear it ... go to porsche.com ... and build a car ... when they are describing the specs ... there is a sound clip.
