Re: Theft at the bash!

Just one question. If there's a good chance of no bash next year...what's the point of returning the GMSC banners for reuse?

my opinion is the comanies wnating you to pay for their banners sound to me to be screwing you. as it was said many times banners are usually a 1 time ad and most decent companies realize that. Did they loan them to you telling you directly that you were 100% responsible for them and they want them back....or are they complaining after the fact?

and who says it was j-owners that stole it? it couldn't be saturn owners or whatever else was there? I second that owning a J-body doesn't make someone a saint, 100's of "so and So are theifs" posts on the general board on here can atest to this.

Lastly i know you work hard on these things, but with all due respect.....you said the same thing after last years bash....that you probably won't do one this year. And even said it before that when Lordstown booted us. now your saying it because your "in the hole, with a baby on the way". I think a family is more importaint than a show you seem to bitchh about after wards every year. Sorry if i come off rude...i'm not trying to be. I'm just saying worry about your new family and maybe it's time to let this go. It's had a great run, but from what i read after each bash the attending numbers seem to get lower and lower i'd say this baby peaked in 2000, and it's time to put it out of it's misery.

You've done good Tim ,but maybe it's time to cut it loose and move on. Just a thought.

I agree.. It seems alot of the time the organizers of events get stuck paying the bills becasue people want to have fun & not contribute. Understandingly so not everyone can, but when you can help out even a little ($5) it helps out alot.. and means something to the person who's in need. Much like Tim., I feel for you man. Possibly could we set upa donation for time to the bash via Paypal? to assist him in any means or ways possible to help cutt some of his debt down from this last bash. I didn't even attend it and i feel bad for him, but i would have been there if My Z24 didnt take a poo (engine wise). Like Karo & Lenko.. I'm a West Coaster and i wouldn't have minded the drive there that's where the fun is!

Also We're all adults.. and Tim's right. You reap what you sew. Just like you expect peopel to respect your things and belongings.. we need to respect others. Of course we wanna go crazy and do insane crap, but unless it's your personal belongings it's not right that you steal something, or tear something up, Especially Hotels. Did you think it wouldnt catch up next time you'd be in town? All im saying is at least myself, was brough up to repsect others (even honda owners.. lol) and treat others how you would like to be treated. It takes a bigger man to walk away than to start stuff.. Again Food for thought.

Tim- Kudos man.. I'm a member of JBOC so i got tons of pics and the teasers to the videos made by the members. I'm willing to help you out for this years bash.. and i didn't even go. So let me know how i can help man, and i'll try to help.

tim... if your not going to be doing this anymore then we should find someone to take over the rains... i know how important family is.....but theres a problem........the people that attend these shows...we they are pretty much family as well... there a lot of close friends spread out all over and the only time the all get to see each other is at the bash....so if your totally drop dead serious about not having one next year....maybe someone would be willing to take over..... but from the looks of it .... theres a lot of faithfuls... including myself that are ready and willing to help with next years bash financially so its not so hard on you next year........

some take this show religiously like a tradition...... and i for one hate to see traditions broken

plus with a kid on the way..... you know yer gonna wanna get GM Small Cars Bash baby clothes made lol i know id but a couple shirts for my nephew

You can't always expect to make a profit for something you plan. It's like how people say when they throw a wedding that they would like to see money come in to "make up for what they lost" paying into it. Just like a wedding, the Bash is about bringing people with the same interest together, not a profit. You're looking at the Bash in the wrong way. I guess maybe that's why I didn't try hard to get the time off when my work told me they couldn't accommodate me.

As far as the hotel thing goes from last year, I can't say I saw much help from who coordinated the hotel. I sent you 3 e-mails asking you for a copy of the contract. This was to be sent off to Karo when he mentioned a class action lawsuit. Not a thing reached my e-mail box.

Anyone who feels the need to attack me on what I said, go right ahead. This is my opinion. It's like an ass-hole, everyone's got one.

Yikes! I'm really sorry that people stole those banners. I used to do marketing for Home Outfitters, and I know that most companies will want their ads back.

I think that if we want to help, it would be a great idea to buy a T-shirt.

Hopefully those ads get returned shortly for you. I know that you put ALOT of effort into this, and we are VERY thankfull that you did. I would love to go if there is a bash next year.

Many of these banners had to be sent back to companies and now we are liable for them. And the ones that had the GMSC logo on them where to be reused at future bashes and will have to repurchased. We just need to get these back to the right people so it doesn't come out of my pocket. We lost enough money this year.

This is ghetto at its finest. One for stealing and the other for companies charging for banners.

Well companies dont give banners out, they cost money. although they should.. im sure there's a way to make it a tax write off for the company for advertising.. maybe, who knows. But those banners are hella ex$pen$ive to have made, i dont blame them not just giving them out.

People have to understand this little tid bit of info about those companies that show up at the Car Shows Displaying the GM Cars. A lot of time GM Contracts out small companies and people that Go around and truck GM's Displays and promote and advertise the GM products. So those banners might not have been paid by GM but the individuals that are contracted out by GM to Advertise for GM. Just food for thoght.

I was not at the Bash, but yet I know it was GM who had the cars there. GM does not let there cars out to anyone. Trust me it was GM there.

As for the banners and money etc.... Yes they cost money to be made, but companies like GM, AEM, or other big name companies they have that stuff written off.
I can understand the GMSCB banners where probably out of Tim's pocket and can understand those.

Also I got a Chevy Banner from GM there cost was $13. That was one of the Big Black ones with Chevy in red. That is not much.

Trust me I know most of those GM booths are contacted out to other companies, I was hoping that I would one day be able to do that but when I found out that most of them are contracted out I wouldn't be able to do that and stay within GM.

But I know for sure the Chevy Racing booth with the la Mans Corvette, Cobalt Drag car and the NASCAR car and truck was done by this company. http://campbell-ewald.com/

Correct, sir. Campbell-Ewald has been responsible for most of GM's "Car Tours" over the years. Had the opportunity to sit down with them and reps from GM and several other companies regarding the tours thanks to my friend Jeff Bruce.

Kids are always gonna be kids, I mean what can we do.
Now on anoder hand I am really looking forward to going next year, I have been on DA ORG for like over 5 years and was like 1st 2000 members or something and wanted to go like every year but something always come up.
Most of the time it is my birthday that is a problem since it is like July 8th where or the weekend of when I celebrate it with the family even tho I just turned 24 this year. lol

I am however from Florida and about banners, IDK I never looked into it, but I do however go to NOPI Nationals like a religion every 3rd weekend of September and seen many people from the ORG one time I've seen Ian Lacey slaving over his car for countless hours in baking sun, I m,ean who can miss his car. lol
This year I am buying a truck and a one car trailor so I can trilor my car wherever it is.
With Florida people, we discuss it with eachother on SouthEast and we have a little show in the spring of our own that BLUE hosts in Orlando and we get some heads up there, it is mostly the drive, it is pretty far but not as near as some of the guys like 2000+ miles and stuff.

With me tho is, I like to race and if I cannot do it I will cry and moan and not have fun, but I am not looking forward to fixing the car (changing the motor or the tranny or whatever )while others are drinking and having fun so I can mak it back home.
So next year I am trailoring the car up there, even running mid 13's right now it is pretty unreliable cause you never know what can happen, and plus with the injectors that I am running and 93 octane it uses more gas that some trucks.

One more thing and I am done, I don't know if anyone goes to NOPI Nats. but entry for 2 days for 2 people and a car is $75 and it is $40 PER DAY for ONE PERSON.
So it is better to enter the car that is why they have a bad ass turn out.
I don't mind paying that and a hotel once or twice a year and if others are complaining about $30 that is pathetic.
I spend $10 for gas to go to the track almost EVERY Thursday, $20 for me and my girl and $5 to run.
That right there without food is $35, but that is my obsession, so I think people need to figure this out cause it is waaaaaaaaaaaaay too cheap, and I can see how Tim is losing money cause this crap costs money.

I wanna help too so count me in.
Sorry for such a long ass post.

Ok, GM might hire soemone to tow the cars around, and maybe even set the display up. My point in what I posted was you stated GM does not own the banners etc... GM was there at the bash. I know one of the guys there, he has been at the bash every year for about 3 years now, and he works for GM, and he helps set up where and when some of those Gm cars go. So GM's money is spent on those banners, and like I said in another post there is cost for them is cheap.
