I'm going to pick up a set of control arms, knuckles, brakes, axles, etc.... the works... from the wrecker soon. $500 for the lot. A bit pricey
I need to sell my junker car first tho.
your selling your trailer cav ??
Hell no... I've got a 95 Sunfire... was an insurance write-off, but the bags didn't pop... just a slight hit in the front, put the frame off a bit. A bit of straightening, and the parts I've collected, and it's good to go.
You interested?
Now this would be awesome with the alum. CA and the F-body brakes with a re-drilled 5x100 stud pattern on the hub. Good work Lenko
Can't help you on the 5x100 pattern... I'm going with the N-body front to match my N-body rear.
you can redrill them if you wanted
nah , i was wondering what ever happened to to trailer cav , havent seen anything since it was a shell when you got it
Eh....just bought rims. Its gotta be 5x100 for me. I've got a mill and a radius plate vise so I'll just redrill. That would be so awesome if the alum. CAs work, if they do then this swap will be a go for me.
Arent the rotors from the C4 that some sell 5x100? Wouldnt that work somehow too?
The Vette has a different rotor offset and diameter, don't think you could make it work, too different.
I don't see why you couldn't redrill the hubs and rotors for 5x110, but I haven't looked too closely either (as I have the N-body IRS too).
The N front and rear are freeking awsome with the setup I'm running. I still haven't pushed my setup to the limit. For instance, the freeway off-ramp where I live. I can take it at about 45mph in my GAM or 40mph in sister's base Cavy before it starts sliding out. In my sunny I took it at 60mph the other day and it still wasn't sliding. Getting afraid of taking it any faster!
I'll try for 65 when I fix my car (computer bracket busted a rivet and with no splash shields (on order) it started rubbing the wheel; was only a matter of time before the wheel won).
It is so much fun to have someone riding your ass on the freeway, then take off up that ramp at 15+mph faster than they can take it!
And being able to stop on a dime. Still haven't gotten the wheels to lock up yet either, love those tires. Freak people out riding with me cause they don't think I can stop in time.
Man, I wnat the N-body IRS swap, and if this works Lenko its going on there too!!
Jawn i have a set of ProThane bushings uninstalled. i'll let you take em to swap into the aluminum arms instead of taking them out of your existing ones. i'll take your J set up instead and if you want a bare set of J arms, i have those also.
I'll have to look for some tomorrow at the junk yard........ anyone know if its just the '99 Grand Ams, or do the 98-99 Malabu's and 99 Alero's have these also? I'll check a known 99 Alero today

GMpartsdirect.com usually needs some interperting to get the message correctly.
The 99 Alero and GAM had Aluminum control arms for both FE2 and FE3. The Malibu did not. And it was only 99.
so 99 is the ONLY years to get them?
I need to replace my front bushings as well, so I'm interested in a pair.

do you want those bushings i have Jawn? swap for your existing bushings already mounted in your J arms??
I know that gmpartsdirect can be messed up, but the balljoint they have listed for my car ('02 Z) is good for all 3rd gen J's, and 92-98 GAM's.
P/N 22157023 came up for 99+ GAM's and Alero's.

if they'll bolt right into the car and match up to the knuckle like the stockers, I don't see why not.
