The GMR gears are the hardened steel ones, the stock ones like to explode if you have a 2-step.

I like how very informative you are in every detail of the engine.

What do you think about the 2 step on a Quad....no exploding oil gears you think?

GMR has got nothing on this

I think the Quads are fine, its the design of the ecotec oil pump gears that make them prone to breaking. They reside in the timing chain housing cover and slip over the crank and are keyed in, the Quad uses a gear on the crank to drive a pump assembly IIRC.

Updates:

Drag slicks should be here any day now, very pumped.

Pulled the motor apart a bit tonight, snapped some pics as you can see.

Thinking about actually going a different route with the oil cooler now after speaking with my buddy. He is gonna see what he can come up with at work for a solution. I'll figure it out more once we get into the motor a bit more.

Clean bottom end

Thats all for now folks.

Ryan - I wish it was my shop, it is my buddies tho. Its a mess right now seeing as we just finished gutting the inside of it and re-doing everything (used to have brown wood paneling on the inside). Still needs some work but its 10000x better than it was before. Its got a mini fridge out there too, no more going in the house to make rye and coke!

Thinking about ordering some stiffer rear springs for my ground controls, the car squats like a dog taking a @!#$ off the line.

Anyone know the spring rate of the rear springs in the kit? I beleive Karo had a hand in setting these up for us, maybe he is the best to talk to?

Could just bump the dampening up on your rear struts depending what struts you run.

I have Koni Yellows, but dampening only affects the rebound of the spring and not the compression I believe.

I run the fronts at full stiff for that reason, makes it harder for it to "lift up".

I could be wrong tho.

Just spend some time tearing my garage apart to find my ground control box to find the part numbers on the springs.

Turns out they are 250lbs springs in the rear, ground control offers springs in that size up to 550lbs! So there is lots of room to upgrade them.

They have a few drag setups for hondas so maybe I'll email them to see what they recommend.

Did some polishing last night trying to bring the shine back in the Bogarts.

They need a bit more work but not bad.

I'd bet the strut adjustments alter compression and rebound simultaneously.

mmmmm rye

Newt whats with the 4 lug rims?

Re: Quest for the 12's.....All-Motor.
Saturday, February 26, 2011 12:35 PM
I bought them off a friend to used to have them on a civic.

Those rims where worth nearly $1000 brand new when they where bought, I got both of them off him for $200.

Gonna run 5x100 - 4x100 adapters to bolt them to the car, already found a place that makes them for drag cars, just gotta put my order in.

Its not ideal, but for sake of having a 7lb racing rim, and saving some money, I think it was a good idea.

Re: Quest for the 12's.....All-Motor.

agreed, sir. you did good on the rims... although, i think my bogarts are going to out-shine ur's. and to prove it... ill be posting pics a few hours after i receive them just to show you up! (ps, mine are 15's but have the correct bolt pattern, no need for added weight of lug adapters. you suck. )

i say get some wheelie bars. make that bish stand UP in the assend!

the more i check this thread, the more i'm thinking of running a similar setup on my sedan. (le5 block/lsj head) although i will likely rock the stock head and lsj cams for now to keep costs down. (and i think the profiles will play nice with the blower.

can't wait to see what kind of power you put down!

Newt what head gasket you plan on using with the le5 bottom and lsj head?

It will be an 89mm Cometic, probably 0.030" instead of the 0.040" tho.

Phil and Ryan have both ran this one before without issue.
