Got some more work done today. Found that I had 2 seized subframe bolts and one of them was rounded off. So I improvised...
Subframe removed.

And this is how I did it.

What left of the subframe bolt. I will heat it up and remove it with vise grips. Its always nice having a spare set of these bolts

The affected area on the old/garbage subframe.

Got the fuel/brake lines out.

Engine bay now, almost ready for welding.

Heres a couple pics.

JDM what?

A 2002 toy echo came in at work today and it ran almost the same setup(i know its almost the same car too lol!)i snap some quick pics with my phone
just to show that maybe it could be cheaper to buy since its a 2002 or maybe someone could find the same part at a junker

I looked at that piece, but I didnt want the 90 degree bend. Plus for the $23 I paid for the part, I would MUCH prefer to buy it new to prevent failure.

So I started with the shaving of the engine bay. Before taking a look at the pics, know this. If you have ever seen me weld, you know that it leaves alot to be desired, I normally get Bruno to do my welding. But I am determined to do this myself. So I jumped in head first. It took me alot longer than it would for someone that is experienced, but overall, I am happy that I am doing this myself. Im also doing this with a wire feed welder with no gas, so that makes it even harder.
So on with the pics...
Before.

After, I still have alot of cleanup to do.

Im gonna be doing some more work on it this week.

It was like Christmas this weekend for Leona. Lots of new sh1t.
TTR polished solid upper engine mount, TTR polished solid dogbone mount, TTR solid transmission mounts. DC Sport 4-2-1 header.

Something else to add to the pile, new subframe with TTR K-brace.

And last, but definately not least, got my new engine

Im pretty stoked right now.

Bad things happen when I get frustrated...

Test fit of new bolt in upper rad support. 2x2 1/8' wall thickness.

Done, the ends will need some tidying up still.

I've always loved the idea of a bolt in radiator support. Had one on the Sunfire(Actually, it was this exact piece of metal lol) and I knew all along that this car was getting one. Plus this one is alot sturdier aswell.

Well this is what I did today. It will obviously need some filler work, it doesnt look very good around some of the edges because I kept burning through the metal since the sheetmetal is so thin.
