Thank you i would really appreciate it.
Thanks,

check your email.
EDIT : I have included 2 different sets of instructions (which I did not write) but you can follow them. They make the swap seem 10x harder than it is. Super simple.

thanks man.
SO has anyone done the drilling and stuff themselves?
Thanks,
Paul
I did, you need to drill 2 holes, 3/8" or 1/2" make sure you mark them, then just bring the block to a metal shop and have them weld 4 or 5 old pasages shut, and drill/tap 2 holes for the windage tray. that is the whole swap.
-drill 2 holes
-weld 4 or 5 shut
-drill/tap 2 studs for windage tray..
thats the whole swap, the instructions make it seem soo hard.. I am doing a bottom end swap on a 2.4 this coming friday... maybe I can pull the bottom end apart and do a step by step with pictures and get it stickies... super easy, really fast.

Will i need the studs for the pump its self or would i be fine with out them.
There is a lil chip off the corner of the block rite where i need to put one of the studs.
the pump bolts to the same bolts that held down the factory pump. So you will be good there. the only holes that need to be drilled are for the windage tray... parallel with main bearing #3 (IIRC)

I know it will bolt rite on.
But there are 2 studs that need to be drilled and put in that go from the block into the bottom of the pump correct?
If so iam i going to need them? because like i said the block is chiped rite there.
nope, only the 2 bolts hold the pump to the block... the only 2 holes that you need to thread and put either studs or bolts in are for the windage tray.

I think he is talking about the alignment dowels for the pump. Yes, you have to drill those out. No need for tapping. You just press in a dowel...I think the size of the dowel is mentioned in the write-up.

oh yah, right, I forgot about those. yah you just need 2 dowls, make sure you don't drill through the little portion and little tap them into place. They are there for assemble basically, but a really good thing to have.

so my block is chipped where one of the dowel are spose to be put in yes the alignment dowel thanks luke any way so theres no way to put a dowel there because its cracked off rite there.
SO iam i going to need a differant block or what now?
Thanks,
Paul
you could get that spot welded up.

so weld it then drill and press my dowel in?
yah, that should work just fine.

Does it matter whether or not I go 3/8" or 1/2" ? Any advantage to either size?

I have read some stuff about this, arguments saying 3/8" iis too small, 1/2" is too big, blah blah blah, from what I found, 1/2" is obviously a little more exact when you drill it, but once you get to your stock oil passages(1/2") it will all be the same as factory. 3/8" is suffiecent but if you can do 1/2" you will not lose any flow or pressure.
I would say (obviously) start small and EXACT, then increase size up to 1/2", just make sure you drill nice and straight. Measure/mark twice, drill once.

What do you mean by 1/2" being a little more exact?

you will notice that when you drill the hole that connects to the stock passage that you will be drilling closer to the external wall of the block. if you were to drill through that wall your oil would all leak out. You just have to make sure you drill in nice and straight, take some time to ensure you get the hole nice and straight.

Also, which pipe plug would I want to use? Because the size for 1/4" NPT plug is 0.4375, and the size for 3/8" NPT plug is 0.578125 So neither one is exactly 1/2".

there are about 4 or 5 holes that have to be closed, I just brought it to the machine shop and had them welded shut, that way they can't fall out IMO, only cost 40-60 bucks. Then at the same time they drilled/tapped the holes for the windage tray.

Oh...okay. Well I'm plugging all of mine with pipe plugs and Loctite, so I don't think they are going to go anywhere. I was referring to the angled hole you have to drill to meet with the vertical oil feed hole for the pump. The angled hole has to be plugged, so I am trying to figure out which plug to use so I know what drill bit size to use.

you could use a 7/16" too, if that helps. just a thought

7/16" is actually the drill bit size for a 1/4" NPT plug.

When I did mine I drilled them 7/16" (that's tap size for 1/4" npt) and just used a 1/4" pipe plug...
