My son gets back with it from a 1000k trip to a couple of grad schools tonight. I my change the M1EP oil before I leave to take my daughter to college. I have 10K on the oil but it looks so good I may let it run another 1000 miles before a change.

Lets see, My 96 Grand am had 169,000 miles when a oil pump failure took out the # 1 and #2 rod bearings, That block I figure is ganna get knew crank, rods, bored pistons and I plan to sell it with a oil pump mod. I found a core Motor at a junkyard that looked very clan so I bought it for $100 and tore it apart, I found that the only problem with the thing was one bad valve on the # 3 intake side. So I took the good head off the afore mentioned 2.4 and placed it onto the junkyard block as I found it ( it did have the newer knock sensor witch I drilled and tapped to fit the older style) So I guess my mixed #'s are 174,000 on the head and between 50,000 and 100,000 on the Block!LOL
I got mine with 92k but had to put a new water pump in then it hit 115k and i had to put a new tranny in it now it has a 117k and i dont know if its knocking or if its the tq converter or fly wheel bolt that came loose. ~70~

86,000 miles and in storage for the next 5 years since im in Germany right now
i just past 125k with no problems except for a timing chain tensioner right after i bought it at 48k. good thing it was covered under warranty. Oh yeah its a 99 cavalier z24 5 speed. I'll admit that i am thouroughly impressed with the durability of this motor. Just change the oil and regular maintinence do wonders.
