Sucks to hear the possiblility of getting rid of it. Ive had my z for going on 10 years now. Back when I first bought it I jumped in too far for the time and ended up putting it back to stock. I have been slowly building it again but trying to keep from going to far too fast. I am collecting a bunch of parts to throw at it. My plan is to strip the car down and build it the way I want the first time. I have specific goals in mind and know its going to take some work.

I think the best thing to do when building a car is set a goal and try not to veer to far from it. Also try not to burn yourself out while working on it. If you spend too much too much time working on it all the time, you wont want to fix the little things when they go wrong.

Long story short, dont sell it. FInd someone who will let you store it and go back to it in 6 months or so. Durring that time make a goal for the car and list what needs to be done to get there and then go back and finish it without killing yourself.

I looked through and couldnt find specific info on the wilwood master, Im assuming you went with the 7/8" version? How did the brakes feel compared to the stock powered unit?

Never got it installed. It's sitting in the trunk collecting dust with the rest of the car.

If there are few things from racing I have learned, one is to never hit the brakes (to an extent) into a turn or in the turn. You should be set-up and planted when entering the turn then giving it gas out of the turn. I have watched it myself, so many people go into a turn at too fast of a speed or to close the the inside of the turn, then slam on the brakes and spin.

I have done it myself a few times on the track, its no fun.

I hope you keep the car, you are one of those few that knows to to caress a J lol.

is it just me that thinks that the solid swing arm bushing contributed to that and arent that great of and idea?

huh spencer? lol what difference would that make? it doesnt render the axle un-movable it just helps transfer the energy throughout the car better versus losing some through the rubber bushing.

does putting poly control arm bushings in mean its gonna understeer?

I choose the technology built for land speed records... not the technology built to save on emissions and gas mileage.

Damn I was a few pages behind here, but I guess that explains the sale post on Facebook. I know how you feel, man. Mine has been sitting just short of two years, and up until now, I haven't had a place to work on it. I have all sorts of issues to sort out with it, and like you, debated just selling it and trying to get a newer, more reliable daily and come back to j-bodies later. But in the end, I just can't bring myself to sell it. It's so close to finished, I'd feel a fool to give up now. I hope that maybe you can find logic in that and find a way to keep yours. I'd hate to see if go, then you kick yourself in the dick later.

Umm no. Both Strat81 and I autocross our cavs with solid swing arm bushings and it does the opposite. The rear feels planted and we do not have any oversteer issues because of it.

I'll but my money on what Mark was saying. Any car will oversteer when you slam the brakes in a corner.

Maybe the issue is don't do 200 on an on ramp. Why put other people's life in danger?

Who said I was doing 200? Maybe you should re-read my post Jeremy.

Sorry Darren, it was more of a generalized comment. You said you were "giving it good", Sweetness said he was doing 200km/hr. After coming home from a durham shift where I did 2 roll incidents with 4 people stuck in a car the last thing I would want is for people that I have looked up to and watched progress die in a car accident which was totally preventable. I didn't mean it as an attack to you, but more of a generalized comment that nobody really touched on.

Came off a little rude, sorry if it offended you.

I hope you do take some time away from the car and come back to it. The car looks great.

Jer

I have a question on the water tank delete. How do you get it full when the cap is so low in teh system?

The cap is the highest point in the system. Its the filler in the upper rad hose.

I have achieved with this car what I wanted. Which was to build something completely 1-of and be proud of my work. I have done that and I can now say that I am done with it and can move onto bigger and better things in my life.
There will be a part-out thread coming.

The very last picture of Leona in all her glory.

On Sunday, she looked like this.

I gave her a kiss goodbye as I left the shop and never looked back. Im happy with my decision. It was an incredibly hard one to make, but I just need time away from the whole scene for a while. I realized that I wasn't completely happy with the car, and that I never would be. This way, many other people will enjoy the killer parts from her. Making good cash on it was just a bonus.
